Argo Conquest 8×8 d

When you need to work in remote areas, logistics can be a major problem. That’s why Argo makes the Conquest 8×8 d. It delivers the same utility and unparalleled off-road and amphibious abilities of other Conquest models, but it uses a diesel power plant so you can use the same fuel as the rest of your equipment, making it easier to supply your fleet.

Diesel Power

The 8x8d is powered by a Kohler KDW1003 diesel engine. This one liter, three cylinder motor uses an advanced indirect injection system which keeps noise low while providing performance in line with direct injection systems. Noise is reduced even further with a belt driven camshaft and simplified internal construction that reduces the number of moving components. This motor is CARB certified, so it’s legal to use in California and Quebec, but it still produces 24 hp and 37 lb-ft. of torque. The onboard 7.1 gallon (27 liter) fuel tank can keep this engine running for up to 8 hours.

Speed and Maneuverability

The engine drives Argo’s Admiral transmission. It combines a CVT fitted with a heavy duty belt to a final drive with a high and low range. This transmission uses the standard gear set for a top speed of 17 mph (27 km/h) on land in high gear. Shift into low, and this vehicle can handle extreme inclines and heavy loads with ease.

Since all 8 wheels are fixed, steering is achieved by braking the inner wheels. The Admiral uses variable braking, allowing for smooth turns, and it’s controlled by a set of ATV-style handlebars, making it easy to learn.

The hull and giant tires allow this vehicle to float on water and over muddy areas, letting you drive into and out of streams, lakes, and rivers. When amphibious, the Conquest is propelled by the paddle-like treads on the tires to a maximum speed of 3 mph (5 km/h.) If you need to travel faster, Argo offers a kit to mount a sub-10hp outboard motor.

Cargo with Flexibility

The Conquest series replaces the rear seating area found on other Argos with a large cargo area. This can be left empty to provide maximum space, or configured with a variety of accessories to best fit your needs:

A bench seat can be added to increase seating capacity to four people on land, and it can be removed without tools when you need full use of the cargo area.

A dump box can be attached over the cargo area. It can handle loads up to 1,000 lbs. (450 kg) and uses an actuator that is within reach of the driver for easy unloading.

If you need an easy-to-reach space for carrying equipment, Argo offers a flatbed deck with places for tie downs.

The universal mounting system is an adjustable frame that can support up to 750 lbs. (340 kg.) It can be used to permanently mount tools, turning the rear of the 8×8 d into a mobile workstation.

A storage tote provides 38 gallons (144 liters) of dry storage. It has wheels and handles for easy removal and transport.

If you need even more space, Argo offers a hood rack as well as amphibious trailers that can be towed anywhere this vehicle can reach.

Need to reach the cargo area without stepping off the vehicle? Catwalks can be added that run along the sides of the hull.

Total payload capacity for this model is 1,300 lbs. (590 kg) on land and 800 lbs. (363 kg) in water including cargo, passengers, and accessories. It can also tow up to 2,000 lbs. (907 kg.)

Accessories

There are several ways to outfit this vehicle with better weather protection. A heater kit taps into the engine’s cooling system, while there are several options for partly or fully enclosing the cabin. The motor comes fitted with a 65 amp alternator to provide plenty of extra power for lighting and other electric accessories like a front or rear-mounted Warn winch.

Argo makes tracks that fit over the wheels, increasing flotation and grip, and these can be fitted with cleats for traveling on ice. The 8×8 d can even be used to clear snow with the plow kit.

The Conquest 8×8 d: The Perfect Compliment to Your Fleet

When you need to work remotely, the Conquest 8×8 d is the perfect tool for the job. It has a highly configurable cargo area, can travel on terrain and over water to reach places other vehicles can’t, and it uses the same diesel fuel you already stock for heavy equipment.
